By incubating an external gas trading expert back in 2009, Danske Commodities started trading a new commodity besides power. Our gas trading business was built up from scratch and has developed as gas markets have been liberalised across Europe. Today, Danske Commodities trades gas in more than 15 European countries.

Throughout the years, gas market liquidity has moved from long-term to day-ahead to intraday. With our 24/7 set-up, strong trading capabilities and a widespread market presence, Danske Commodities was able to leverage this market movement immediately. As an early adopter, Danske Commodities has played an active role in shaping the intraday gas market and has catalysed the development towards more liquidity and trading opportunities, and obtained a solid foothold in the market.

What started as the incubation of a commercial idea in 2009 has now developed into one of the most profitable lines of business for Danske Commodities – proving that an innovative mind set, speed to market and a strong trading platform are key parameters in accelerating growth.

HOW WE DO IT

  2. Dragon's den session
    An expert challenge session of the business plan, if the idea is deemed attractive

  3. Business plan sounding
    The Danske Commodities team sounds the business plan and perform HR due dilligence

  4. Presentation for senior management
    The business plan is presented to Danske Commodities' Senior Management Group

  5. Initiate proof of concept
    The proof-of-concept phase for the business plan is initiated by the business responsible
