Fun fact: I once made a hole-in-one at Struer Golfklub
I grew up in western Jutland with my family and sport was always a big part of my life. At the age of 15, I left my parents' house to pursue my dream of becoming a professional football player. Unfortunately I did not get the final breakthrough to a professional career, so today I am enrolled in the Master's programme in Economics and Management at Aarhus University. Before I came to DC, I worked at a similar energy trading company in their short term analytics department.
Initially, I came to DC to save hours on the road since I worked in Aalborg but lived in Aarhus. That being said, I always knew that DC is an innovative and creative company that has a great reputation among students, especially at Aarhus University. DC offers flexible working hours and many other benefits for me as a student employee and I am treated with the same trust and respect as any other full-time employees. And if you have a good idea, DC is the perfect place to be. There is no bureaucracy that erodes that idea and you therefore have the opportunity to make a real impact.
Frederik Holm Andersen, Junior Trading Analyst
I work in our Intraday Power Trading team, where I develop advanced trading strategies and tools to gain a competitive advantage in Europe’s short term electricity markets. Among other things, I find patterns in huge amounts data using advanced econometrics and machine learning techniques that can be used to increase the value creation from trading. In addition to this, I develop algorithms that automatically take positions in the market based on fundamental data.
My typical work day varies a lot, depending on the main project my attention is focused on. Still, whatever the subject, it most surely implies a computer, some coding lines and deep discussions with the traders or other quants in the Automated Trading team.
The best part of my job is that I get challenged and inspired every day at work. As a quant, it’s important to always challenge the status quo and continuously improve the models and tools that we develop. This means that the learning curve never stagnates in this job and it’s a great supplement to my studies.
The success of our company is built on having the brightest minds working across the entire organisation.
