Meet Kristian Bak Bojsen

Studying: Operations and Supply Chain Analytics
Position: Junior Disptacher
Employed since: January 2021
Fun fact: Although I grew up on a small farm, I am not a skilled tractor driver

I had a rural upbringing surrounded by lots of animals on a small farm not far from Herning, a city in Western Jutland. I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and German, and am currently studying a master's degree in Operations and Supply Chain Analytics. Previously, I have worked a few years in the dairy industry but I joined DC in January 2021 because I sought new challenges.

I wanted to be challenged and to develop my skills besides my studies and therefore decided to apply at DC. I didn’t know much about DC before I saw the vacant position, but I got a good impression during the job interviews. I have encountered both challenges, responsibility and trust to complete the challenges here, and therefore working at DC has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Kristian Bak Bojsen, Junior Dispatcher

I work as a Junior Dispatcher in the Power Trading Operations team. As a dispatcher, you are scheduling the power that the traders have bought and sold and therefore collaborating closely with the traders. The dispatchers are also watching the clock and a list of tasks to make sure the traders and we ourselves meet all deadlines throughout the day. Furthermore, I am also developing business tools to improve or automate processes for both dispatchers and traders.

A dispatching shifts starts with getting an overview of what the dispatcher on the latest shift has experienced. During the shift, I am in contact with internal and external stakeholders when I am for instance uploading the traders’ bids to auctions, splitting the results afterwards, or making sure that we are matching with our counterparties in the power grids across Europe. No two shifts are the same, because different challenges might come up and the energy markets change all the time.

Kristian Bak Bojsen best part about my job

The best part of my job is to work with highly skilled colleagues who all strive to optimise our procedures and trading in a young environment. It is inspiring to be a part of the continuous optimisation of our tasks, since we are presented with new automated processes and improvements every month. I get an understanding of many functions in DC because dispatchers have a large contact surface throughout the organisation. There are also several opportunities to meet your team and colleagues at different non work-related events.
