Why did you apply for the Mentor Programme?
At the time, I didn’t really know what should happen next for me in terms of my career and when I saw the mentor programme, I thought that it was a good opportunity to get some sparring on that topic. I “dived” into Henrik; researched who he was, what he had been doing and I got really fascinated – and then it was just a “no brainer” to send the application.
For me, the ideal output of the Mentor Programme was to get sparring on which direction I should go in from someone like Henrik, who didn’t know me personally and was not biased in any way.
What did you get out of the Mentor Programme?
Henrik helped me to see things from a different perspective and he was really good at asking the right questions.
When I entered the programme, I had some career perceptions that I was quite certain about but Henrik really challenged me on my assumptions and helped clear my tunnel vision.
I also got the chance to pass the ball to someone who didn’t just avoid the difficult questions, but helped me explore different corners and angles of my own personal development.
I came into the programme with two goals;
- To get new perspectives on the topics that I have pondered in my mind since I started at university
- To create a tangible plan on how to proceed and progress
And I have really received some useful feedback. Also, it has been great to have someone who held me accountable on my development and progression.
Would you recommend others to participate in the Mentor Programme?
I have learned a lot in the process on both a personal and professional level. It’s just incredibly rewarding to get a different perspective on some of the choices you are faced with from someone like Henrik.
I would definitely recommend others to apply for the mentor programme. Just get the application sent – it is really rewarding.
