How we work and who we are
In Gas Trading & Operations we maximise value in very fast and highly volatile short-term gas markets, specifically the intraday and day-ahead gas markets. We combine a data-driven approach with an efficient setup that integrates trading and dispatching, which is why we are well-positioned to capture opportunities and restore energy balances close to delivery. We trade 24/7/365 and constantly grow our presence within natural gas - and with Equinor in our corner, we have the necessary financial strength to break down the door to new markets.
You will join a team that is in to win it. We are made of highly skilled specialists; traders with a razor-sharp eye for profit and a fierce hunger to be the best, analysts from diverse academic backgrounds with an innovative approach to data and automation, and tech-savvy developers working shoulder to shoulder with the business to reach the finish line. And get there first. With an average age of 30 consisting of five different nationalities, the team is young and international. We are known for our team spirit and unity, which is important as we are highly dependent on each other.
Your journey as a Gas Trader
Starting out, you will get a thorough introduction to the team, your tasks and our general trading setup. You will be assigned a mentor, who will make sure that you are integrated into our team and feel comfortable in performing the tasks at hand. In time, we expect you to challenge our setup and give input on how to improve our day-to-day activities. As the gas team in general has a very broad reach of various business activities, there are a lot of opportunities for further career development - either under the DC umbrella or at Equinor.
The ideal candidate for this position has 1-3 years of experience from a similar position and preferably with physical commodities. However, what we really think characterises a good Gas trader is an innate competitive spirit, a winning mentality as well as the ability to think quickly and keep a cool head under pressure.
