Meteorologist for long-term forecasting

Would you like to use your meteorological skills to level up power and gas trading in one of the most successful companies in Europe? And are you looking to join a team with curious colleagues, who are always investigating new forecasting methods? Then we might have the perfect job for you.

Meteorology at Danske Commodities

Danske Commodities (DC) is an international energy trading company. Every day, we complete more than 8500 trades across 39 countries, constantly moving energy from where there is more than needed to where it is needed most. In the Meteorology team, our most important task is to predict how the weather landscape influences the energy market. Our weather forecasts are critical to trading decisions made within seconds, as well as long-term investments. Using machine learning methods along with good old-fashioned meteorology craftmanship, we support our traders by delivering advice, daily forecasts and ad hoc analyses.

Become an expert in how meteorology impacts the energy market

This job is an opportunity to work within the area of weather forecasting where your work will make a great difference to your colleagues. You will join a team of six committed meteorologists and analysists, who work closely together with our trading teams. We all share a common goal to support and advise on well-founded trading decisions and strategies in which weather and weather forecasting influence the markets.

As our new meteorologist, you will start out with an introduction to the team, your tasks and your closest stakeholders. You will be familiarised with our meteorology desks and you will start forecasting within a few days. You will experience days when you deliver perfect forecasting results as well as days when your forecasting skills are challenged. The real success lies in keeping a continuous focus on improving forecasting quality and risk assessment to ensure trust in your forecasts. In the longer run, you will experience the magic, when your forecasts become fundamental for profitable energy trading decisions.

We continuously work to push the limits of forecasting to help the traders strike the best deals
