European Short-Term Trading at Danske Commodities
Danske Commodities (DC) is an energy trading company that specialises in short-term power and gas trading and offers balancing, optimisation and hedging services to energy producers and suppliers. Every day, we complete more than 8500 trades across 39 countries, constantly moving energy from where there is more than needed to where it is needed most. DC is a wholly-owned subsidiary to Norwegian energy company Equinor, operating under its own name and brand.
In the European Short-Term Trading (ESTT) team, our primary goal is to create value on the back of quantitative input and develop the team towards a progressively more automated and algo-based system. We want to be ahead of the market, and we believe in letting the machines help us out.
We use our expertise and experience to create power trading strategies that are based on fundamentals and market characteristics. We operate on the short end of the curve, and we always go for the win throughout the European power markets.
Passionate trader with solid quantitative skills
The ideal candidate for this role has a minimum of 3-5 years working within trading. We are looking for a profile who gets the fire in the eyes when markets move and new opportunities arise – someone who is always looking for the next profitable trade. You understand the value of analysis and are experienced with quantitative methods to develop trading strategies. And best of all, you get the chance to trade on your own strategies!
You will join a desk with a high team spirit. We have each other’s backs and believe that we achieve the best results as a united team. Together with a strong collaboration and constant knowledge sharing, there is a lot of room for individual strategies and development as we always seek to diversify our market approach.
Drive the development and execution of trading strategies
To succeed in this role, you need to be avid about trading. Starting out, you will get a thorough introduction to the team, your tasks and our general trading setup. Shortly after your onboarding, you will start trading. You will develop trading models that you can convert into actual trading strategies, which you will be executing. You will work together with many different stakeholders in DC, including analysts, meteorologists and other quants to develop successful trading models. In time, we expect you to challenge our setup and give input on how to improve our day-to-day activities.
