Danske Commodities (DC) is an energy trading company that specialises in short-term power and gas trading and offers balancing, optimisation and hedging services to energy producers and suppliers. Every day, we complete more than 15,000 trades across 39 countries, constantly moving energy from where there is more than needed to where it is needed most. DC is a wholly-owned subsidiary to Norwegian energy company Equinor, operating under our own name and brand.

Our Global Business Development team drives the global expansion of DC’s business model and provides strategic and commercial advisory to one of the world’s largest energy companies, our owner Equinor. In a strategic context, we shape DC’s future business opportunities by supporting DC’s global and green ambitions while we serve as the main interface to Equinor, working closely together to optimise the value of renewables and low-carbon solutions.

As our new Commercial Business Developer, you will join a team of proactive and curious go-getters. Our team comprises different profiles and competencies, united by a relentless drive to challenge the status quo and shape the future for our business. As a team, we can work independently but we also love to work together – both within the team and across teams with our stakeholders in DC and in Equinor. We operate at lot like a team of in-house strategy consultants, collaborating with other business teams to solve complex business problems with a global footprint. In the team, we enjoy a high degree of empowerment based on mutual trust and we always strive to deliver high quality material and recommendations within deadline to relevant stakeholders.

Your journey towards taking the lead on global business projects

Starting out, you will get a thorough introduction to DC, our strategy, the team and your tasks. We will ensure you get a solid understanding of the projects you will be working on and the stakeholders you will be working with. During the first six months, you will be engaged in commercial projects together with Equinor in which your role will be to ensure cross-company alignment and advise the project on commercial aspects, e.g. market assessment and route-to-market options. On the longer term, you will be expected to take the lead on executing strategic initiatives related to DC’s global and green ambitions. In other words, you will play an integral role in identifying and developing new global business opportunities for DC.

  • provide strategic and tactical advisory with the objective of shaping potential future business opportunities for DC as part of Equinor
  • act as a subject matter expert and the main interface for commercial opportunities towards Equinor
  • support global business development initiatives for new markets, products and services, including development of market and competitor analyses
  • proactively identify business opportunities for DC and lead development towards value realisation
  • ensure flawless stakeholder management across teams in DC and across organisations between Equinor and DC


We expect that you:

  • hold a relevant master’s degree in Finance, Engineering, International Business, Economics or similar
  • have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience from a similar position, alternatively experience within power trading, renewable asset management and/or investment
  • possess strong commercial acumen with a good understanding of power market dynamics and risks
  • have the ability to analyse and model financial KPIs for a business case to inform business decisions
  • are fluent in English – both written and verbal
