Legal at Danske Commodities (DC)

In the Legal team, we work closely with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the organisation from trading teams to Senior Leadership to mitigate legal risks and to provide relevant input for decision making. We create value on both an operational and a strategic level, supporting the entire organisation with high-quality legal advice and support in drafting and negotiating contracts.

Our Legal team consists of committed, proactive and experienced legal counsels, who work closely with the organisation and external counsels, not only in Denmark but across all our markets in Europe, the US, Australia and Brazil. And one thing is sure, there are no two days alike in the energy market, and we need to continuously develop and stay ahead. The right candidate can come from a variety of backgrounds. We imagine that you either come from a law firm and are now interested in further developing yourself in an in-house legal function, being responsible for your own commercial area. Or perhaps you come from a similar position and are now interested in working in our Legal team, which has been recognised as one of the best in-house legal teams in Scandinavia. What is most important is your ability to proactively take on new tasks and have a real zest towards complex legal tasks. You will be joining a team that plays an important role in our organisation and is close to executive-level decision making and new business opportunities in our current and new markets.

Your journey as a Legal Counsel at Danske Commodities

As our new Legal Counsel, you will get a thorough introduction to the team, your tasks and of course to how DC works within our various business areas. In this position, you will be supporting specific trading teams and developing and negotiating a variety of energy-related contracts covering energy trading across ever-changing global markets. You will be working closely together with our business developers and traders, and your tasks will be focused on supporting with legal advice as well as developing and taking the lead on all contractual relations for your stakeholders. In other words, you will get the opportunity to be part of a team which holds great responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • provide the organisation with relevant input for decision making in connection to current and new business opportunities
  • proactively support the organisation in assessing legal risks and value in existing and new contractual relations
  • proactively draft and negotiate contracts

Qualifications

We expect that you:

  • hold a Master’s degree in Law or Master’s in Commercial Law
  • have 3-4 years of experience from a similar position in a law firm or a corporation
  • are fluent in English – both written and verbal

  • are proactive by nature and can drive things forward. You will have the responsibility for a wide range of tasks that require you to take initiative and follow up
  • are detail-oriented and have a structured and strategic approach to solving problems to ensure the best possible communication and counselling of complex legal tasks
