Quantitative analyst for short-term power trading

Here’s what the job entails
In this role, you will build machine learning and optimisation models that support the decision-making within our flexible asset business.
Your responsibilities include:
- support our flexible asset business by building and developing quantitative models
- develop optimisation algorithms that trade flexible assets, such as batteries, Combined Heat and Power and Power-to-X in a systematic way
- participate in coding algorithmic trading infrastructure and optimisation engines used for live trading
- conduct market research and strategy analysis aimed at improving overall PnL and operational robustness
- support team members to ensure operational stability of algorithms developed by the team
Meet the team
As our new quantitative analyst, you will join our Intraday Analysis team, where we support the trading and asset optimisation teams by building machine learning and optimisation models. Our primary area of responsibility is to develop strategies and quantitative models that enable decision-making for our trading and flexible asset business.
We are a team of 15 specialists in energy trading with various backgrounds in finance, mathematics and engineering. We are a curious, dedicated and highly analytical team who always strive to improve processes, systems and strategies to fine-tune the infrastructural engine of our power trading business.

As you will be developing models and analyses used for decision-making, we are looking for someone that has a data-driven approach and an eye for market risks while also evaluating other factors in your analyses. Also, as we operate in an ever-changing market, we see you as someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and has the ability to quickly adapt to market conditions.
We also imagine that you:
- have an educational background in a quantitative field, for example mathematics, physics, statistics, data science or engineering
- have at least three years’ of experience in a similar position, either in the energy industry or the financial markets
- have solid coding skills with the ability to write production level Python code
- have great communication skills as you should be able to explain your analyses to stakeholders who do not have the same insights as our team
- are proficient in English - both written and verbal
