Intermittent generation is only as valuable as the strategy behind it. At Danske Commodities, we combine advanced forecasting, balancing and full market access to maximise the value of wind and solar assets – improving capture prices, reducing imbalance exposure and unlocking revenue streams that go beyond day-ahead.
Every MWh optimised. Every opportunity captured.
Production is unpredictable but your returns don’t have to be
We manage the full optimisation journey for wind and solar assets – from forecasting and intraday re-trading to ancillary market participation and imbalance minimisation. Whether your asset is merchant, subsidised or part of a hybrid setup, we deliver transparent solutions that stabilise revenues and enhance long-term performance.
Our pan-European reach means we operate across the markets where your assets are – with deep local knowledge and strong trading capabilities in each.
Powering two million Polish homes from the Baltic Sea
Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 are two offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea, 22 – 37 km off the Polish coast, jointly owned by Equinor and Polenergia. Due to become operational in 2028, the farms will supply an estimated two million Polish households with renewable energy. We’ll trade and balance 100% of the combined 1,440 MW capacity in the Polish wholesale and balancing markets.
Our partner promise
At Danske Commodities, we treat our customers as partners. We work toward the same outcome as you – with aligned incentives, clear roles and open, honest communication. We won’t upsell what you don’t need. We’ll turn your challenges into solutions and back it with in-house trading, analytics and optimisation capabilities built for every stage of the process.
No unnecessary add-ons. No noise. Just disciplined execution and genuine collaboration – every forecast, every market, every day.
Because when you succeed, we succeed.
Kölvallen is a 277 MW onshore wind farm in Ljusdal, Sweden, developed and managed by Arise AB and owned by Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners and Arise. Operational since 2025, the farm produces enough renewable electricity to power around 95,000 households. We provide market access and balancing services for the asset.
Feldon Vale is a 49.9 MW solar farm in Stratford-on-Avon, UK, developed and owned by Low Carbon, supplying renewable electricity directly into the local distribution network via underground cables. Operational since 2025, it powers the equivalent of more than 16,500 British households. We provide market access and balancing services for the park.
Stępień is a 57.5 MW solar farm in the Warminsko-mazurskie region of Poland, developed and operated by Wento and owned by Equinor. Operational since 2022, it was our first renewables deal in Poland. Today, we provide market access and balancing for the farm, one of the biggest solar installations in the country.
Your wind and solar questions. Answered.
How does optimisation improve capture prices for wind and solar?
We continuously adjust your market position across day-ahead and intraday markets as forecasts update – selling when prices are favourable, curtailing when they turn negative. The result is a higher realised price per MWh and a smaller gap between what the market offers and what your asset actually captures.
What is imbalance risk and how is it managed?
Imbalance risk arises when actual production differs from the forecasted position submitted to the grid. We manage this continuously – updating forecasts, re-trading positions and adjusting exposure in real time to minimise imbalance costs and protect net revenues.
Can you optimise subsidised assets alongside merchant generation?
Yes – we work with merchant, subsidised and hybrid setups across Europe. For subsidised assets, we optimise within the constraints of the support scheme to maximise additional market revenue. For merchant assets, we manage the full commercial exposure across all relevant markets.
What ancillary market opportunities are available for wind and solar?
Depending on the market and asset type, wind and solar assets can participate in frequency response, capacity markets and other ancillary services – creating additional revenue streams alongside standard power sales. We identify and access the most relevant opportunities for each asset.
