Student employee for Intraday Analysis
Curious about fast-moving power markets and quantitative trading? Use Python, data and quantitative methods to turn market behavior into insights and tools that support real trading decisions.
Here’s what the job entails
In the role as Junior Quantitative Analyst, you will support the Intraday Analysis team by analysing market behavior, testing quantitative trading ideas, and turning complex data into actionable insights. You will also develop Python-based models and tools that support trading decisions and automated strategies.
More specifically, your responsibilities include:
analysing market and trading data to identify patterns, explain market movements and uncover potential trading opportunities
developing and backtesting quantitative models and trading ideas, including approaches based on statistics and machine learning
building and improving Python tools, dashboards and reports that make data and model results accessible to analysts and traders
monitoring and maintaining existing analyses and models, investigating unexpected results and helping improve their reliability
contributing to ad-hoc analyses and development tasks in close collaboration with analysts, traders and other quantitative teams
Meet the team
You will join our Intraday Analysis team, where we develop quantitative analyses, forecasts and decision-support tools for European intraday power trading. We use market data, statistics, machine learning and domain knowledge to understand price formation and trading opportunities. We work closely with traders and other quantitative teams to turn analysis into practical decisions and automated trading solutions, and we continuously improve our models and tools as market conditions, data and business needs change.
We are a collaborative team with backgrounds across quantitative modelling, software development, energy markets and trading. We like to share ideas openly, challenge assumptions constructively and learn from both successful and unsuccessful experiments. We value curiosity, practical problem-solving and solutions that create measurable value for the trading business. As a student employee, you will be trusted with meaningful tasks and are encouraged to contribute actively, while receiving support and feedback from experienced colleagues.
You’ll work on solutions that contribute to our trading decisions while learning from experienced analysts and traders and developing your programming and analytical skills along the way.
But enough about us… over to you!
As you will be working with quantitative analysis in a complex area, we imagine that you are analytically curious and enjoy exploring problems from different perspectives. We also picture you as someone who takes ownership of your work and values both structured problem-solving and collaboration.
We also imagine that you:
are currently enrolled in a relevant higher education programme, for example data science, computer science, mathematics, physics, economics or engineering
have programming experience in Python through your studies, projects or previous work and are motivated to strengthen your skills
understand fundamental statistical or quantitative methods and can apply them to data
are interested in financial markets, trading, machine learning or optimisation
are proficient in English – both written and spoken
Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
