Senior software engineer for Flexible Asset Management

Here’s what the job entails

In this role, your primary function will be to develop and maintain the software systems powering Danske Commodities’ Flexible Asset Management operations across Europe. These systems support Combined Heat and Power (CHP), battery, and renewable assets.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

  • building quality software solutions that help maximise the value of our customers’ flexible assets

  • driving the architecture and technical direction of critical systems, using the latest technologies where applicable

  • sharing knowledge, mentoring colleagues, and fostering a collaborative development environment

  • gaining domain knowledge in close collaboration with the business

  • contributing to our long-term vision and executing on initiatives with high operational excellence

  • participating in a 24/7 on-call duty rotation within the team, responding to and resolving time-critical incidents and ensuring continued operation of business-critical systems

The team

Meet the team

Our Technology unit is structured around our different business areas, and you will join the team focused on Flexible Asset Management. We are a group of 18 experienced and dedicated software engineers specialising in asset optimisation. In our day-to-day work, we collaborate closely in smaller teams of 3-5 colleagues, developing software solutions that help balance the European power grid and optimise our portfolio of flexible energy assets.

Your qualifications

As you will be working with business-critical systems and operating in a complex, high-stakes environment, we imagine that you thrive on developing robust, scalable software and are motivated to solve real-world energy challenges. You are a team-oriented person who enjoys working across teams and stakeholders and take a holistic approach to software design and have a strong understanding of the business context.

Furthermore, we imagine that you:

  • hold a relevant educational background in software development

  • bring 5+ years of experience in a similar role with software development, architecture, and agile methodologies

  • have a strong foundation in .NET or similar high-level languages and frameworks (we use .NET, C#, Angular, SQL, Event Sourcing, and Domain-Driven Design)

  • are experienced in API design and best practices in software architecture

  • can drive architectural change and keep systems aligned with evolving business needs

Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
