Trading, automation and analysis

Our trading unit covers gas, power and green certificates. But trading isn’t just about looking for that one great deal anymore. Our traders are now executing thousands of trades each day. To support this, we are evolving into tech-driven trader hybrids, working shoulder-to-shoulder with quants, analysts and meteorologists – using data, modelling and technologies, such as machine learning and AI, to our advantage.

Tech

Tech and trading go hand in hand. More than a third of our employees work in Technology, and our software developers and data engineers have become fully integrated on the trading floor. Our use of technology is continuously evolving. We work with distributed systems, microservices and asynchronous messaging and push changes to production every day, quickly and effortlessly. Using modern services and tools such as Robotics, Kubernetes and OpenShift, we ensure the best possible foundation for automation and agile solution delivery. And did we mention we process tens of thousands of trades each day and process more than one million rows of market data every minute in peak hours? Not too shabby.

Business development

Business development in Danske Commodities represents the link to our customers business. They cover different activities that all contribute to developing new business areas and turn our trading capabilities into value-adding products and services for energy producers and large-scale consumers. They also bring our products and services to the market worldwide.

Finance

Our finance team creates value by ensuring high-quality financial numbers, including timely reporting and compliance. Forecasting future profits and losses, taking care of invoicing, reporting and controlling monthly financial figures and making sure we follow correct accounting principles are all part of their daily tasks. They don’t just report numbers – they drive performance management by providing a solid feedback loop to the business and supporting projects with their financial expertise.

Risk management

In a business with ever-changing market conditions and significant volatility, our risk management team ensures that we always have our trading positions under control. The teams monitor our risk profile, help develop a sound risk culture and ensure a responsible balance between risk and return. Our treasury department is also part of the risk management setup and functions as an in-house bank. They monitor all cash in- and outflows to ensure there are sufficient resources to fund company operations and they invest and optimise our liquidity.

People and communications

People and communications cover HR, recruitment, development, compensation and benefits as well as all disciplines related to building and maintaining our corporate and employer brand. Our teams within these disciplines help create an environment where our employees can thrive and grow. They also maintain and build our reputation internally and externally.
