Fun fact: I can verify that it is possible to throw up wearing diving gear without choking
I have studied Computer Science and worked as a consultant before joining DC.
DC seemed to be a place with many competent people working with interesting technologies. Having previously worked as a consultant, I also wanted to try working for an internal software development team, where you could be closer to the end users.
Kristian Andersen, Lead Software Developer
As a Lead Software Developer, I am responsible for making sure the development process in my team is running smoothly. That includes prioritising with the business, estimating development tasks and other tasks to ensure that the development team have what they need to develop software. I am also responsible for the solutions we make, so a lot of my time is spent on developing, discussing solutions with my colleagues and coordinating with our Infrastructure Team to ensure they are ready to support the software we build.
A typical workday could involve talking to the business about bugs or features, and then discussing with my developer colleagues about how to solve the issue, or coordinating the operational aspect of a solution with our Infrastructure team. In between all these tasks, I develop software together with my team.
The best part of my job is being involved with the entire process from idea to running software. I also enjoy being part of the technical solution design, so we build software that is easy to maintain.
The success of our company is built on having the brightest minds working across the entire organisation.
