Fun fact: I once won a golf tournament with a broken arm
I’m originally from Vejle, a Danish city in Jutland. After high school, I moved to Aarhus to study Finance. During my studies, I taught other students in courses like Statistical Analysis, Micro- and Macroeconomics and Corporate Finance. While studying, I also kept busy with a student job in Danske Commodities in the Gas Trading team. That became the start of my career in DC, where I have held positions within Trading, Finance & Accounting and Strategy.
I joined DC because I wanted responsibility – and DC was the place to get that. I also wanted to be a part of a strong company culture with a young environment, a winning mentality and an ambitious team. Last but not least, I wanted to work in the ever-changing energy industry, where I can apply my financial insights. For me, that’s getting the best of both worlds.
Andreas Schwartz Knudsen, Senior Strategy Analyst
I’m a Senior Strategy Analyst, which means I’m responsible for the development, planning and execution of DC’s corporate strategy. I also work with new business cases, carrying out analyses and making recommendations for Senior Management and the CEO.
There’s really no typical work day for me. My job comes with a lot of variation and the tasks change as the markets change. However, most days entail assessing the profitability and strategic fit of new business cases or facilitating internal strategic workshops. I also spend much of my time conducting internal strategic analyses and updating our strategy through annual health checks.
The best part of my job is no doubt the variation. Getting to work with a wide variety of tasks while also working together with people across the entire organisation are some of the best parts of my job. I also enjoy being a part of the decision-making process and supporting senior management. Furthermore, I really like that I can apply my educational background in my job. To understand energy markets, you need to understand how Micro- and Macroeconomic behaviors and dynamics affect energy prices. And working in a trading company, you need to understand financial contracts, how to value them and manage the risks associated.
The success of our company is built on having the brightest minds working across the entire organisation.
