Danske Commodities donates DKK 2 million to volunteer-driven social work in the City of Aarhus
The pool of funds (under Section 18) is managed by the City of Aarhus and used to support volunteer-driven associations that help adults with physical or mental disabilities, marginalised citizens and persons struggling to enter the job market.
Danske Commodities will donate DKK 2 million to the pool. The donation is part of the company’s ongoing ambition to support its local community and follows previous donations to building a new homeless shelter and a new international school in Aarhus.
"We are incredibly grateful for Danske Commodities' donation to the Section 18 funds, which support voluntary social work in Aarhus. With their contribution, we now have the largest pool to date, enabling us to reach even more vulnerable residents in Aarhus,” says the Mayor of Aarhus, Anders Winnerskjold.
For Danske Commodities, investing in the local community is good business.
“I see supporting our local community as not only a privilege but a joint responsibility for the companies operating in the area,” says Danske Commodities’ CEO, Helle Østergaard Kristiansen, and concludes:
“And I think it’s good business to do our part in making Aarhus a great place to be – not only for companies but also the people who live here.”
Danske Commodities was founded in Aarhus 20 years ago and today, the company employs around 600 people – of 37 different nationalities – in the area.
